"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that who ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 (N.A.S )

This was one of the first verse I memorized as a child going to a Baptist church. The very heart of our God is revealed in this verse. The reason for the gospels, for evangelizing, for serving and giving one's heart to the Lord, is based on this truth. That God's love is so immeasurable that he would give up the one person who is "HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON" to die, for a world that does not recognize nor loves him. Although, Abraham was willing to give up his son, his son did not make the decision for himself, to say its okay, I'll do it. Here Jesus is saying clearly, not only is He the Son, He is confessing He knows He is to be given up because of God's Love, and He is self surrendering because He is Love. There was such a deep and profound superhuman action happening at the very moment of the Lord revealing this purpose to his disciples, that even today most overlook that the purpose wasn't for just a few but was open for all. We are called to go and make disciples to teach and to bear fruit.

The love of God is so great that from the very beginning He always has been an active, reliable and ever participating God (1 John 4:13 16). In His creating us, developing us, saving us to then glorifying us to be with Him, He displays to us that He is never a bystander. We are not to be bystanders either, but active. We must take note that we are to be like Him. (Romans 8:29). On the day of salvation, instantaneously, we were redeemed, given a newness in Him. In His Word, He always gives instructions, directions and commands. These are "verbs", the ever progressive movement. Even when He tells us to be still, it comes with a direction. To know He is God. Therefore in Christ we are given an awesome privilege in not only having an intimate relationship with him, but to be influential and active in the relationship.

'Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I am with you always to the very end of the age. " Matthew 28:19,20 "The Great Commission"

God's great love for His creation and great compassion for the state of man, He has given us a way out of darkness into the light. Our reason for living, Jesus. However, salvation is just the beginning. If salvation was the only thing we were to receive we would be taken up once saved. The Lord gave us work to do. To be active. We have received to give to others. Our God is not selfish. His desire is that no one would perish. 2 Peter 3:9 The Holy Spirit is given to us so that we may know Him who saves and do the work effectively that was given to us. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are capable to keep ourselves from falling away from God and bring others to the Lord. We see this is true by examining the Great Commission, which consists of 2 related tasks; Evangelizing the unbelievers and educating those who have accepted Christ in all the Lord's ways so that they also may disciple others. This is a call for all who are in the Body of Christ. Outside of the church we are to reach out to the unsaved, and the unregenerated. However, to the group of believers we are to minister.

In Shepherd House, we have taken on the call of evangelism personally and seriously. We declare war to the enemy and his camp. In Jesus, we preach and deliver the most perfect gift of God, Jesus Christ to a dying world. We go to the streets, homes and wherever there are souls who are in need. The "new" are not left to fend for themselves, but are also taught, and loved. Gather spiritually and literally into the Body of Christ. All is done for the glory of God.

Evangelism
